Idunno whats going on...
I'm on cable and I've gone down from 500KBPS to barely 40KBPS... So I figured I might have some crap on my computer... So I ran programs. Zone Alarm = Found nothing Norton = Found nothing Microsoft Spybot catcher = Found Nothing Nothing... There isn't a single piece of crap on this computer. SO I figured, hey maybe it's just my cable line? Well.. no it isn't... Laptop runs at 500KBPS off my line and so do two other computers. . . So I'm stumped... What could be lowering my KBPS so much? No I don't have any DLs going or any P2P connections that I'm aware of... I haven't downloaded anything 'odd' at all. Last thing I Downloaded was Microsofts Spybot do hitchy-majiger thingy. Any guesses? Is there a way to limit my DL speeds? I use Netscape... I know I'm experiencing a DL problem because: Ventrilo went from 40ping to 100ping Online games went from 40ping to 100ping DL speeds on ALL sites went from 500KBPS to 40... Help? |

You may have better luck cleaning out the junk with the programs most often recommended here at PC Mech. Download and run Adware and Spybot, latest versions and take a trip over to Trendmicro.com and run their scan for virii and trojans. Might also try unplugging the power from the cable modem and plug it back in to reset it.
