DSL Verizon newbie questions
I have ordered Verizon DSL. It is due to be installed next week.
I have a home network for 5 years now with ICS on a dialup account. One machine is W95B but it has had no problem accessing the Internet with the ICS on the W98 machine. 1) The verizon system requirements are W98 for the DSL. Is there any good reason that W95 will not work? 2) I have an 8 port hub for my LAN. Can I just plug the router into the hub for all my machines to access the DSL internet? If so, do I need to use a cross over cable to do that? Thanks, Dwight |

win95b can get on the internet, they simply will not support it.
heck you can get win 3.1 on the net, it won't do much good.

If Verizon is giving you a router that will support multiple client connections, you plug it into the uplink port on your hub. You will need to uninstall ICS before doing your router configuration.
The reason they require Win98 is for the installation of the Winpoet PPPoE software - which is NOT needed with a router, it's for connecting a machine standalone to a simple bridge modem. |
