intermitten signal - ibook/wrt54g

i just got a new linksys wrt54gs, and i keep losing a wireless signal on my ibook with osx. my other laptops are fine, but even if i am two feet away from my router, i lose connection. when i walk to the other side of the house, it tries to pick up the signal of a neighbor who has a befw11s4, so his signal should be much weaker. the only thing i can think of is the ibook would rather connect to a b router. i don't know, tho. if i turn wep off, the signal still drops. if i turn ssid broadcast on, the signal still drops. are there any known bugs between these two products? any suggestions?

Try different encryption and different channels.

i have tried wep, wpa and no encryption at all. i haven't had a problem in a couple of hours, since i told it to connect to my network by default rather than set to automatic. if it continues, i will choose a different channels. thanks a lot
