Home network with Gigafast EZ500-S
I am trying to set up a home network here with the following hardware.
(2) P4 computers running WinXP Pro (1) Gigafast EZ500-S hub (http://www.gigafast.com/products/Swi...-S/EZ500-S.htm) (1) RCA Cable Modem NYC Time Warner Cable Service So I have all setup properly. Coaxial cable in to cable modem. Network cable out to Gigafast adapter. Then 2 ethernet cables from there, one to each of the computers. I get one of the computers on-line (computer 1) but the other I can not get on-line for the life of me. I set up both of the computers using WinXP's network wizard for setting up a network through an hub. Still nothing. So in my testing of the problem, I tested all network cable. How so? I disconnected the working computer (computer 1), rebooted the cable modem and then tried to connect the second computer (computer 2). Instantly the second computer was able to connect to the internet. But now I can not get computer 1 connected. My conclusion is that I do not have the right type of cable modem. How can I resolve this problem? In other words, either get both computers connected to the internet, or network one to the other. Thanks! -Machine |

Your problem is you are trying to use a hub. You need a router. TW only gives out one IP address.
