i have Two PC's and a laptop on my network.
ADSL wireless 4 port modem router. i Have a WAP which gives the laptop a choice of two connections to the router. i am using the original connection on this one, not the Access point. All systems access internet no problem. PC1 is connected thru ethernet directly to a port. XP Pro SP1 PC2 has a wireless connection to the router XP Pro SP1 laptop has a wireless connection to the router XP Pro SP2 *************************************************** i have set up the network with a pendrive etc. PC1 shares with PC2 no problem PC2 shares with PC1 no problem Laptop shares/accesses with PC1 and PC2 but PC1 and PC2 cannot access Laptop error saying "I do not have permission access is denied."and sometimes "path does not exist" PC1 and PC2 both show Laptop in assigned "Workgroup" but not in Network places. I have shared all HDD on each system so everything shud be accessable. I have disabled windows firewalls and removed my sygate software from all systems. The router has a SPI firewall but i cant switch it off....i think. Each system is properly named. I'm lost with this one.....

sussed!!!!
after a big search i came accross this: Massive thanks goto "wew" for posting this last year on another forum. ===================================================== The problem being \\computername is not accessible. and/or your home network gives error 'Access is Denied. Please contact your system administrator.' You may get that error if your LSA\restrictanonymous regkey is set to hexadecimal '1', which would be found at HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\restrictanonymous. I set that to evade the common LSA exploit, but it messed up my home network, so I got a firewall and set it back to 0, now everything's fine again, and working properly. ====================================================== I wish i could charge MS for all the time i have wasted trying to solve this GDI!!!! i would be knocking on Bill's door well done MS you done it again..Grrrrrr

I should mention that rather than expanding (clicking on the +) "Lsa"
you need to double click the actual "Lsa folder" to get the value "restrict anonymous" and set it to 0 I have noticed that a patch sometimes fixes this automatically so you may already be ok. |
