Spybot S & D definitions
I updated Spybot Search & Destroy, and now it only shows 22,426 definitions. I thought the number before was like 23,350 Did they drop something like AD-Aware did ? Thanks.

From a link on the spybot forum from the developer:
PepiMK Posted: Feb 17 2005, 08:51 AM Spybot S&D Developer Group: Spybot S&D Development Posts: 2903 Member No.: 11 Joined: 6-March 02 Sold out? Why would I? You won't find any removed products, as none have been removed Still the same products in there, still the same things get detected. The answer is quite simply optimization. There were a lot of entries that were still backward compatible to 1.2. While they still worked, 1.3 offers more performant methods that will take less space. The number is not exactly the number of files and registry entries detected, it's the number of detection rules. Sometimes there are more than one rule for the same file, but often, one rule covers multiple files/entries. No Illuminati involved as you can see (edit: on second thought... if we would have removed stuff, we surely would have been so careful as to insert some null-rules to make this more inconspicuous ) This post has been edited by PepiMK on Feb 17 2005, 09:11 AM
