Restricting users from saving on C:,

Hey kids!

Here's the situation...we want to restrict users on a computer and the only programs they would be permitted to use would be Word, Excel, PowerPoint, IE, Mozilla. Also, we want to prevent them from saving anything to the harddrive, but allowing them access to their floppy/zip drive. What we tried doing is right-clicking C:, setting the security so that they may not save anything onto C:, but still execute programs. That seemed to be a temporary fix. However, there is a dilemma. When we open up Word, for example, and try to save a document, the restrictions will not allow the save dialog box to execute. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Disable the security setting on C: and enable security on every folder in C: except the "documents and settings" folder.

But wouldnt that allow them to save onto the harddrive? we want to disable saving directly to the harddrive, but allow them to save on their floppies, zips, etc.

Exactly what I thought...20 seconds after my post.
They won't be able to alter any programs.. :-/.
I think you are going to need to purchase a 3rd party filter to get what you are looking for...the library pc I am on right now has something called
"etrust antivirus". This thing is SOLID. Best filter i've ever been frustrated with in trying to get to www.aimexpress.com
GOTTA RUN! Librarian caught me trying to hax it!
