I was wondering what, if any, advantages there are to having a actuall computer as your DHCP server VS a router that you can buy in the store specifically designed for ICS. I have comp with a 1.2 gig AMD T-bird with 512 megs of ram just laying around that I want to put to good use. When I first set up all of the comps in my home for ICS I bought a 8 port Linksys router for ICS and it has worked good so far but I now want a gigabit connection to all of the comps in my home and I obviously cant do it with this Linksys router but I think I could if I set up a comp as a DHCP server and got a gigabit router/switch (Im still not sure exactly which one of these that I would need). Any tips, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated.

You can keep your present infrastructure with gigabit. Just buy a gigabit switch and uplink it to your router, and put all gigabit computers on the switch. This is the easiest way to do it.
