networking question

I need to create a network on a dsl connection between 2 of my home computers but one is running win 98 and the other xp pro. Will that work? Also what all will I need? The company im signing up with comes with a free router. Do I need a hub or somethin?

TIA

No, you don't need a hub. The router will allow you to share the dsl connection. You will want to set up the network using the computer running WinXP and then make a network disk and then just run it on the Win98 machine. Once you've done that and restarted the computers, you will just have to go thru and decide which folders you will want to make available on the network. Once you've done that, you're good to go.

Yup, good plan. Only other thing to consider is whether you want to share a printer too. You can use the Find A Printer function in the Network area to use the same printer from both machines while it is connected to only one.
