Cox Security Software.. Good/Bad?
Hey all...
Today I got an email from Cox... giving me the option to download their new security software that has a pop up blocker, Anti Virus, spyware, adware, and firewall software... It said to uninstall my firewall, AVG, adaware etc etc. My quesiton is... Would I be better off to use all of my own separate programs like: CWshredder, Spybot S&D, Adaware, Grisfot AVG free ed., Sygate Firewall etc etc OR should I uninstall all those programs and install Cox's software? Is their security software any good? If it is, then I guess I'll uninstall all those other programs.. It would be more simple to just have Cox's software instead of a bunch of different programs... thanks a lot!

Sounds a little fishy to me. If you are happy with the protection you have with the programs your using, why switch.

Don't even consider it.
![]() It isn't on the rogue-suspect list, but it isn't in Eric Howes top 5 list either. http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_...tm#trustworthy Plus even if Cox is your carrier, I don't want ther offers showing up in my mailbox. The only way to stop that is to not respond. If it isn't profitable, they won't do it. |

Yeah, I probably won't use it.
How could it be profitable to them though? Its a free package... I think they're trying to compete with companies like AOL who claim the standard broadband package leaves you unprotected and screwed... Which isn't true since you can download all these programs for free...... |

Oh, I thought they were selling it. Either way, I wouldn't use it. Especially if it required that my trusted apps be removed.

It all depends what they are using for components in the package. AOL uses McCrappee, I don't know what Cox uses.
