It's not very user-friendly -- you have to upload each suspect file manually -- but for files that are clearly malware but aren't caught by AVG or a McAfee command-line scan, it's a good tool to know what you're up against. Some viruses are polymorphic and so you should reformat if you find them just to be safe, so if the virus scanners identify a file as belonging to that virus family, you know that it might make sense to dig up that XP CD.

I use Jotti's malware scan

all the time if i'm not sure about a single file yes it's good

well see about virus total.
