Question how do i get rid of my trojan?
recently i downloaded what i thought was a cd crack.... it was a trojan.
i currently run avg free and i was alerted that there was a file change in windows system32 the file had increased in size. the avg option screen came up:
(send to virus vault) (quarrantine file) (delete file) well, the only option it would let me use is delete file, obviously i wasn't going to delete a sys32 file. so i pressed cancel. i ran an avg deep file scan with no results. i cant find this event in my windows event log, or in avg test results. a couple days later my integrated ethernet port stopped working this also happened the last time i got a trojan,but i also updated bios before my ethernet stopped working so i'll figure that out once i get that trojan out of there. I had the file name saved in my palm but it recently went psycho and decided to delete all of my info. how do i find the which file it is in, and how do i get rid of it?
any response will be greatly appreciated

Hello well i hope you learned your lesson about cd cracks or warz sites. they are riddled with trojans

Please run these two online scans. Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

You should try to delete any files that these scanners are unable to clean. Then let us know if its working better and what the scans found.

create a folder for HijackThis in the root folder of your hard drive so it can make proper backups

Click here to download Hijack This. 1.99.1 Save it to the folder you have just created

Close all open windows and open HIJACK THIS. Click “Scan” . When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to“Save Log”. Click on“Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET , most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the scan and advise.

hi lobos thanks for the quick response. well, i can't do an online scan because my ethernet is screwewd up, im on my other comp right now. i downloaded hijack and am going to run it now ill post the results when i'm done.

did you uninstall the nvidia and reinstall like i asked in the pm
or run the winsock fix

also When you get the warning it should tell you the file name with a path to the file or even the name of the trojan. That would be helpful

hmmmm
unfortunately i didn't have any restore points saved and it wouldn't restore to the system checkpoints. i created a savepoint now so if i run into any severe problems while making these changes i can put it back in its present flawless state i uninstalled the nvidia programs then reinstalled them. i then downloaded lspfix. i fixed the nvappfilter, my unknown winsock files are gone. no change so far
my warning wasn't very specific: trojan detected in windows sys32 no path was provided.

That maybe the name of the trojan does it say system32 or sys32

sys32.exe is a trojan
