I.E. Doesn't Connect Right Away (6.0 SP1)
Upon opening, Internet Explorer on my pc(Windows XP pro, sp1) has been showing the following "Work Offline" dialog box for a week now:
No connection to the internet is currently available. To view internet content that has been saved on your computer, click work offline. Click try again to attempt to connect. If I proceed to click on Try Again the connection is then established but the problem reappears on the next bootup. Here's my HijackThis log immediately following a reboot: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 13:37:21, on 01/05/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: D:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe D:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe D:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE D:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe D:\Programmi\File comuni\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe D:\Programmi\Iomega\AutoDisk\ADUserMon.exe D:\Programmi\Iomega\DriveIcons\ImgIcon.exe D:\Programmi\File comuni\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe D:\Programmi\Logitech\Video\LogiTray.exe D:\Programmi\Google\Gmail Notifier\gnotify.exe D:\Programmi\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe D:\Programmi\Spyware Doctor\spydoctor.exe D:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe D:\Programmi\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Distillr\AcroTray.exe D:\Programmi\Hardcopy\hardcopy.exe D:\WINDOWS\System32\LVComsX.exe D:\Programmi\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe D:\Programmi\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE D:\Programmi\Messenger\msmsgs.exe D:\Programmi\Logitech\Video\FxSvr2.exe D:\Programmi\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE D:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe D:\PROGRA~1\Iomega\System32\AppServices.exe D:\Programmi\File comuni\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE D:\Programmi\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe D:\Programmi\Norton SystemWorks\Norton Utilities\NPROTECT.EXE D:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\SPEEDD~1\nopdb.exe D:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe D:\Programmi\Iomega\AutoDisk\ADService.exe D:\WINDOWS\System32\wuauclt.exe D:\Documents and Settings\Giorgio\Documenti\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://g.msn.co.uk/0SEENGB/SAOS01 R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.msn.co.uk/ R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = Collegamenti O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - D:\Programmi\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - D:\Programmi\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - D:\Programmi\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - D:\Programmi\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - D:\WINDOWS\System32\msdxm.ocx O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ADUserMon] D:\Programmi\Iomega\AutoDisk\ADUserMon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Iomega Drive Icons] D:\Programmi\Iomega\DriveIcons\ImgIcon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Deskup] D:\Programmi\Iomega\DriveIcons\deskup.exe /IMGSTART O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "D:\Programmi\File comuni\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccRegVfy] "D:\Programmi\File comuni\Symantec Shared\ccRegVfy.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechVideoRepair] D:\Programmi\Logitech\Video\ISStart.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechVideoTray] D:\Programmi\Logitech\Video\LogiTray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [{0228e555-4f9c-4e35-a3ec-b109a192b4c2}] D:\Programmi\Google\Gmail Notifier\gnotify.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SSC_UserPrompt] D:\Programmi\File comuni\Symantec Shared\Security Center\UsrPrmpt.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "D:\Programmi\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Doctor] "D:\Programmi\Spyware Doctor\spydoctor.exe" /Q O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] D:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe O4 - Startup: Hardcopy.LNK = D:\Programmi\Hardcopy\hardcopy.exe O4 - Startup: Internet Explorer.lnk = ? This is normal behavior when you have a router - just click the "try again" button.
Your log is clean. Please don't post logs until you have read the sticky thread. |

I.E. Doesn't Connect Right Away (6.0 SP1)
Thank you, how come if I take the IE shortcut out of the Startup folder and launch it manually, the "Work Offline" dialog box doesn't appear?

If you are launching IE at startup, it's trying to connect before your network connection is fully active. The LESS you have running at startup, the better off you are.
