Simple Network Setup?
I want to move a large amount of data (mostly music, but some other key stuff like email, internet favorites) from my elder computer which has Win 2000 and a new one I built (successfully!) which runs Windows XP Pro.
I have an Ethernet Crossover Cable (unwrapped as of yet) and a router and USB hub, for what that's worth, infowise. Also several regular Ethernet Cables. What's the easiest way to transfer those 50 or so gigs of data from one machine to the other? Where can I learn how to do it!? |

I'd pop the hard drive out of the old and slave it to the new. Would only take two minutes to do that part. Then you could copy and paste away..

I agree with Stvy. I save data that way for customers all the time. No need to mount it in the rack either just connect the power connector and the IDE cable (making sure the jumpering is correct) and lay it down where it will have some support.
