Speedtouch 510 , can't connect to 10.0.0.138
Hi everybody ,
Network Engineers , Technicians , and others.... It's my first thread over here , and Quite sorry , cause it may be somewhat bothering! First of all , I'd like to send you all a very big praise from Egypt ,my country. My major boring defect and problem briefly lies in my router (or that's what I'm guessing) , which is Thomson Speedtouch 510 with the firmware version of 4.2.7 (may be the last one)... It was pretty much un-errored for one complete month , afterwards it started troubling me , with the clinical picture of failure to connect to its web interface , or the telnet (10.0.0.138).. It's not all the time , to be honest , but the quite annoying thing is that it may last for 2 or three complete days unable to access my 10.0.0.138 through a web page or telnet.. With this error message shown up on the cmd : ( Connecting to 10.0.0.138......Could not open connection to the host, on port 23 : Connect failed ) Keep in mind that : 1- I can ping it normally. 2- The internet works normally. Regarding my system , It's Sp2 , which was the one I've used for the past year or so.. No single change in my system settings , and no single alteration in my firewall settings... I realy hope you have an answer , And a solution to all of it.. Thanks a lot.

Have you tried turning its power off for a minute, then restarting it? Have you tried turning the firewall off?

Hi Glc ,
I'm really grateful for your kind care and reply. First of all , I've tried for sure turning the firewall off for both the sp2 and the router ( at one of the very little times I could access to its telnet gateway), but again , there was no single change in the situation. Considering unplugging the power cable , and replugging it after a MINUTE or so , YEs .I've also tried doing this , and this point exactly was a bit of a help! After resarting the router , I could access its web interface (as well as telnet for sure) for the very first time I try to , but after a matter of seconds , The access is completely restricted , returning as it was... What do really bother me , Is that I can't use no more this Azureus (Bittorrent technology client), which uses UPNP to map its ports allover its work , And it seems that those port mappings are completely blocked as it couldn't access my router also. What actually adds to this belief , is that it works pretty normally after successful port mappings at times where the access to my router is normal. Don't forget Monitoring of my Line stats , data rate , Signal to noise ratio , line attenuation level , power output , Network adress entries , and others.... I've lost all these controls , cause I've lost connection to my router configuration interface .Oh my God , It's BAD!! All I've wanted to know is that: 1-Could it be my ISP blocking my access to this 10.0.0.138 for a certain aim of port forwarding restriction? 2- could it be a defective or lossy router that need to be changed ? Sorry once more..

I would try a different router if possible. Your ISP can't block access to that IP address because that's a local IP created within the router.
