Distance from the CO, shorts on the line. A phone device with out a filter. Interferance.

There are many things that can cause trouble getting DSL to work correctly.

How about telling us a bit more.

What type of DSL modem do you have?
Who is your DSL provider?
advertised speeds if you have them.

One thing to try, connect the DSL modem direct to the phone jack, no filter, no spliters.

the problem really isnt mine, im trying to help out my lady

this is waht she posted on anotehr forum

after using a Siemens ADSL A-100 modem for my DSL connection for about 3 months, some problems accured.

1. "After you install a new hardware device or new software, your computer may start to restart spontaneously, or you may receive error messages on a blue screen."

Thats exactly what happens every time I turn on my computer and my modem doesnt get a signal for about an hour or so. Microsoft Crash Analysis says

2. "A device driver installed on your system caused the problem; however, we cannot determine the precise cause."

And theyre giving me all these solutions but how can I do anything if I dont know exactly whats wrong, cuz when I do a diagnostic of the modem and Query Modem, it says that everything works just fine, and I honestly cant remember if, when or how I downloaded some new software that would cause some problems. So Im tryinna figure out the hell is wrong with it, how can I figure out exactly where the problem is ? Id apreciate some help ! THX

if anyone can help, wed really appreacite it, thank you

If it's a USB modem, get rid of it and use an Ethernet modem.
