limited network connection
I run a simple network connection with my bro's computer. Mine is home built (Win XP with Service Pack 2, 2.8GHZ P4 800FSB Northwood, Soyo P4I865PE motherboard, and 512MB Ultra DDR3200 memory, 160GB ATA100 WD drive, 30GB ATA100 Seagate drive, TDK DVD+-RW 4x dvd drive). Bro has a Dell Diminsion 4550 with 2.53GHZ P4, Win XP with Service Pack 2, Intel (some model number) 845PE chipset motherboard, 512MB DDR2700 memory, 120GB Seagate drive, Samsung 248F CD-RW. That was probably too much info. Anyways when we first hooked up the two computers together we had know problems. He hosts our internet connctions with ICS. I connect to the internet through his comp. The computers are hooked into a Linsys 5 port workgroup switch along with a HP5850 deskjet printer. Then one day bro tried to get a file from my hard drive and my computer didn't show up on his my network places. I tried mine and i could see everything on his comp like normal. Then we had some people coming over and we decided to secure our comps to protect some of our projects that weren't ready to be released yet (just some home movies). After we took the passwords back off however bro can now see my computer but neither of us can get past the C drive where we get an access denied message. I still have no problem hooking to the internet through his comp, and all our games can still be played on the LAN without problems. Neither of us have problems conncting to the printer either. So after the long explanation, any ideas whats wrong. Because we share files all the time and that was the main reason we got a network (and because we wanted to play all our games over LAN.
