my internet connection is not connected to my phone line, but i'm required to connect my belkin router to a wall jack for it to receive internet... but i don't think it will work since the connection is from a different source.
my "internet wire" which connects to my computer fits into a "connections to your computer" socket on the router, but that's not the "DSL line" socket, so i'm not sure i should do that.... i do have 2 network cards incase i give that a go though. |

ok, do this, unplug the power cables from you cable modem and router and connect them with an ethernet cable (rj45 connector) from the cable modem to the internet or wan port on your belkin router. power up the cable modem first, make sure all the lights for normal operation comes back on. then plug the power cable to the router back in. make sure your router is configured to DHCP, or automatic, or dynamic to obtain an ip address.
then connect your pc via ethernet cable to the router |

If you go to Device Manager, does it show anything under Network Adapters?

or do you seen in device manager something that says unknown device or other device and just below that it states: ethernet controller, or network controller? if you do then you dont have the drivers installed for your wireless PCI card |
