FTTH (fiber to the home)

This weekend the voters of my nearby city will be voting for a go-ahead to install FTTH to all city residents. The system will be publicly owned and run by a publicly owned electricity provider. Just wondering what everone thinks about this? I think the city needs to get about 125 million in bonds then it can start the project.

I personally love this idea, although I am about 2 miles outside the city limits. I am guessing this fast infrastructure will bring in businesses that need this speed.......speed only offered in a few cities in the US.

I am trying to think of what Gaming would be like on that system.

I am guessing you are joking............that is the amount they need to completely wire every home/business in the city.

TV/Phone/Internet estimates should be 20% lower than Bellsouth/Cox is right now.
