IE cant find the cable modem but Mozilla can

Every thing was fine. IE and Mosilla found the D-link wireless PCI adaptor, I have win/2000 so I went to M$ to upgrade to IE 6 and the download went fine.

Now Mozilla goes on the internet fine but IE will not.(page not found) IE keeps looking for a dial up connection. Is there a setting in IE that I need to change. I cannot find it.

My laptop (XP) works great with the cardbus adaptor. Both IE and Mozilla go on line fine.

Open IE 6.. go to TOOLS > Internet Options > Connections
If you have any dial up connections listed that you do not use - Remove them
Click on LAN settings, uncheck Automatically Detect settings and use automatic script if any of it is checked. Press OK
Click the SETUP button to setup an internet connection. and walk through the wizard.
Select Connect to the internet
Setup my connection manually
Connect using a broadband connection that is always on.

Ensure that your wife's computer is receiving an IP address from the router before trying to connect to the internet
