Some programs won't connect to the internet...
Hey all...
computer problems again... Some programs that I've recently updated like aim and msn won't connect.... Battlefield 2 won't connect online... neither will GoogleEarth... but yet my browser... trllian... and all STEAM games will connect without a problem. I've checked my firewall.. and all those programs are allowed.... I'm thinking it could be this Linksys Wireless B router. Its just that recently installed programs won't work... But trillian and STEAM which have been on my computer a while connect just fine... I dont know what the problem could be. Any ideas? Specs: Asus a7v8x-x (i think lol) AMD 2500+ Barton 1GB Crucial 3200 RAM 80gb WD 8mb cache IDE HD ATI 9800pro AIW Lite on 32x12x40 CD Burner Floppy 350watt ANTEC psu Windows XP home sp2 installed... |

Just as an experiment, try completely disabling the firewall altogether.

Hey whr2206
I have to suggestion for you. First try to remove all the update programs from your firewall software and let it detect them again. Maybe there was achange in the update of the way they connect to the net. If that won't help, try to check that all ports that thes softwares using, r open in your router. Sometimes, when i update my online poker software, i have to remove it from the firewall approved softwares list and let it detect it again, and it works. Good Luck |

Disabling the firewall thats built-in to the router? I used to use sygate... then i started using windows firewall (didn't have them both running at the same time of course)... SO right now the only thing protecting me is the firewall in the router... I'll check the ports and see if any need to be opened for those specific programs.... Its just weird that AIM and MSN both worked... until I upgraded.... and any new progam I install doesnt connect to the internet.... I'll fool around with the firewall and ports and I'll get back to you guys thanks a lot!
