connect 2 pc's
Hey!
What would be the best way to network 2 comps together? I have dsl and want to share it between them. Is buying the linksys router the best choice? Or is there any cheaper method? Plz give me your recommandations. tx in advance

The best way to connect 2 PCs together and let them share DSL, is with a router. Make sure you get a DSL router for LAN, not USB. And then you just connect each PC to the router using a network cable.
Or, if you like, you can go wireless. For that, the router must support it, and the PCs must be equipped with wireless NICs. RJ

I just stumbled upon this in the jr catalog yesterday and I think this might be sort of what you want. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3691486

That's a KVM switch. . a totally different thing. Doesn't even have a network connection.
The thing that you need is a router. That's the device you need to network 2 or more PCs and share DSL between them all. RJ |

Go with the Linksys, you would be fine with B but if you want you could get G which is newer but either way you cannot use the full 11mbps.

Thx guys for your reply. I started to research for the linksys router, but everyone of them has 4 ports or more. Since I have only 2 comps I'd like to buy the one with 2 ports.
Can I find something like this out there?tx for help |

the 4 ports is fine, its almost a standard thing , don't be concerned about the unused ones, it don't matter, get the 4 port one and be done with it
you may never find a two port one anyway. |

Hey again!
Can you guys recommend a good and fairly cheap router, as well as nic card and 50ft patch cable. I have trouble finding them. Thanks again. |
