Which PC components affect streaming video?
Hi - I'm currently trying to wirelessly stream some mpg home video (some files are as large as 3 gigs) on my home network. I'm using the Belkin Pre-N setup with an Excellent / Very Good connection. However, the video stutters quite a bit, even crashes in some instances. Does the CPU (or any other PC component) affect streaming video across a wireless home network? My wireless desktop is an Athlon XP 1800 (running at 1.5ghz), 1 gig of 266 ram, and an NVidia 5500 AGP graphics card (128mb). My laptop gets the video a little bit better - it's a Pentium M 2.0ghz, 1 gig ram, ATI 9600 Pro card (128mb).
Do you think I need some more CPU power on the desktop? Thanks! |

are you streaming over wireless b or g? Your processor should be fast enough for streaming video.

I'm using the Belkin Pre-N router and wireless desktop / notebook cards. Could the files be too big?

Try it wired to see if the problem is in the wireless or somewhere else.

Wired works perfectly. When I say "streaming", I'm actually using "My Computer" on the wireless PC to access my Netdisk and play the files wirelessly.
