Internet sharing
I have A DSL internet connection right now. I am thinking of getting another newer system and want to share the DSL connection between the two. My question is what do I need to do this? Do I just need a NIC card in the second system, or do I need a router or something?
Thanks, astro astrotolus@hotmail.com |

There are a couple of ways. The cheaper method is software based. The host computer has 2 NIC and the other will have 1. The other method is using a router. This way, the 2nd computer can be on the internet without having the other PC on. There are other benefits to this setup ... amongst them, apparently, ease of setup. In this setup ,each PC would have one NIC. Two popular model are the Linksys and Netgear router. Both have models that also include the switch.

Thanks
I think I'll go the router route. My host system doesn't have an open PCI slot anyway.
Thanks, astro |
