delete password request on boot up ?
Someone here suggested changing 'Client for MS network' to 'Windows logon' to get rid of the need to enter a password everytime I boot up.
But all this has done is to change the request from Network, to Windows password. A search for *pwl brings up nothing, yet when I enter my usual password it accepts it and boots. Thanks. |

It would be '*.pwl' rather than '*pwl'. These files are located in the Windows folder. Put in username but NO password and press Enter.

if you've created any profiles, you'll have to get rid of them, too. here's the KB article, with a link to deleting user profiles:
Q152104 you might also run msconfig and look at the system.ini tab...there should be an entry for password lists, that will give you the filenames you're looking for. |

I can never decide between reviving some old thread to say: "thank guys-problem solved" or just leaving it to die. Thanks ! and apologies to all who have to
re read this old thread. |

Actually, it's kind of useful to know that the problem was resolved and HOW it was done. If the solutions provided had not resolve the problem, there are other tricks to try.
