Help 16year old n00b at networking

Hi all any chance of help i need help on setting up a network between 2 pcs soon 3 at home maby a laptop as well what do i need i got a lan port on one pc and on laptop but not mine in my room and i would like to be able to accsess the internet on mine up in my room so wht do i need im getting a lan card and cable 2 day but how do i set it up i have no idea about all the diffrent types of cable is there any percivic ones i need all machnes run windows xp one is xp media center other in my room is xp pro laptop is xp home and me new pc wich i want to soon link up will have windows 64bit on any help will be much aprecated

A good website for networking info is http://www.practicallynetworked.com/

The basics are this: all computers are either going to need an Ethernet NIC or a wireless NIC. You will also need a router, again, either plain wired or wireless depending on what you want. You will connected the cable modem to the WAN port on the router, and you will connect your computers to the other ports on the router. This should be all you need to share the internet connection. If you want file sharing and printer sharing, that website has information on how to do it.
