[please view picture for diagram and info]
Ok... I'm currently running single website, with a .com domain name. Windows 2000 server edition, running Microsoft IIS. How do I configure a second website, with a .com domain name as well, to run on this server. Hopefully both on port 80, because I don't want one site having www.domain.com:81 ...all that crap. ----------- I've tried using host headers in IIS, and people couldn't see the site (neither worked). I've tried configuring the TCP/IP protocol for multiple IPs and configuring 1 for one domain, and 1 for another... still nothing. ----------- Another problem is, I can't view the websites from the LAN... there needs to be a way to set it up where I can use the domain name and not the internal IP. I'm completely lost. I've posted a thread like this a few times with no solution... I hope the diagram will help explain better. Thanks |

I'm sorry I don't really know the answer to that, but have you tried asking your webhost? I also have a registered domain and when I was new and had questions, my webhost (Lunarpages.com) had lots of resources via Forums or also reachable via phone support.

I have read places online that show multiple site hosting on a single server, they just never go into as much detail as I need. So don't tell me it isn't possible, and especially don't laugh about it. Thank you. |

Ok, no one helped me here, but I did finally get it myself. Here was the solution.
website1: 192.168.1.50 port 80 - www.site1.com host header website2: 192.168.1.50 port 80 - www.site2.com host header website1: 192.168.1.60 port 80 - no host header, this allows viewing via LAN website2: 192.168.1.70 port 80 - no host header, this allows viewing via LAN There ya go. 2 websites on one server, single IP, and evening running on a dynamic external IP! Finally, someone helped me... ME!! And just for the record, I believe this is the first time PCmech hasn't came through for me... it hurt... but they still kick ass overall
