Home networking without hub?
Greetings!
Ok, I didn't know if this was possible, and I'm just probably doing some wishful thinking, but is it possible to share files between two PCs with only a router? The setup is like this: Code:
Internet
|
Modem
|
Router
| |
PC1 PC2
Not possible without a gateway/Hub is it? |

Really? Sweet!
However I forgot to mention that PC1 is running WinXP SP2 and the other computer is running Windows 2000. (The home networking wizard for each PC is different.) ANy tips or suggestions before I attempt to setup the connection? I've already configured the main PC (PC1) and now I just need PC2 to join the network. |

Edit: The reason why I like XP is the user-friendly interface. Don't get me wrong, I grew up using Windows 95 and 98, but I've forgotten my way around the interface of those OS's. Anyway I've finally connected to the computer downstairs I just had to identify the PC on the network and join the workgroup that the main PC is on.Thanks for the replies and assistance! Edit # 2: Is home networking safe? Does allowing our computers here at home to access each other make ourselves open to threats from outside internet users?
