Hello,
Well we have two computers network through a router at home, and everything was working fine untill one of the computers was having a random shutdown issue where if we were playing a game it would seem to much for it and the computer simply turned off. so i decided to reinstall and reformat that computer to see if i could fix this (it didnt work, if someone could help me with this problem aswell thatd be heaps good... CHEERS! ) but now i am also having another problem with the network, i was able to reinstall the network on the newly formatted computer and everything seemed to work fine, the internet works, i am able to access the other computers and i can play most online games, what the problem is that i cannot sign into MSN it is saying with an 80048820 error "Your firewall may be blocking Messenger from connecting to the service" so i thought RIGHTO so i turned off the firewall completely and that still did not work, also the other problem with this is that it wont let me activate windows! it is giving me a connection error. it cannot be the router that is having the problem as everything works fine on the other computer, well any help would be appreaciated... thanksJac PS- Both Computers have XP Home Last edited by cooljac47; 09-10-2005 at 11:26 PM. |

Now, does MSN give you that error each time you try to log on to it? For the Windows activation, I think the OS will try to go straight to the M$ site to be registered.

Yes I will try and put that issue onto the other thread...
Yes MSN gives me the same error each time, another strange thing with this happeneed i installed a ALLin one messnege which included MSN, the MSN messenger within this program worked fine, strange. Umm i am not sure about the windows activation as it just says it is having troubles connecting to the registration server. Another weird thing with the network is alot of time the computers cannot see each others shared folders, and they only work at random times. |
