Problems with cable modem

Sometimes my SurfBOARD Motorolla SB51000 will just disconnect from my ISP, or whatever...I'm not sure how to explain it. At random times, my 'Online' light turns off for a few minutes, and up to 13 hours. I don't know how to explain this any better...

My ISP is Adelphia...

the problem is most likely the cable co's problem, poor connection on the cable system will do that and it does not have to be in your equipment.
one way to test it is to do a ping to a ip address with the extension of -t and watch the timing, you will see some large differances if it there problem, also there will be a large number of time-outs too

I pinged 203.113.67.6...

I averaged 357 ping time, and my request would time out from 1-18 pings. 18 was a rare number, but I was timing out mostly at 1-5 pings.

then you need to call the cable co and complaine to them, ping time should run about 50 milliseconds, with no time-outs that is your problem, they have something bad in there cable system.

what I did when roadrunner was giving me problems, I pinged this sight and had it run continous for 30 minuts while the tech was there watching it and he could see when the connection was bad, also open the dos windo full screen so you can see the pattern better of the time-outs
