3 Computer how to hardwire them together?
I have three computers that sit right next to eachother.
I build websites so I use one to do my work. One for video editting and one for surfing listening to music. I would like to be able to transfer files from one computer to one of the other 2. What cables do I need to make this work. I heard you can damage the computers by connecting them to eachother. Thanks!! |

Get a 4 port switch and some Cat5e cables. You can then run the XP connection wizard and it'll walk you through the steps to name your workgroup and computers. Share a folder on each machine and they should see one another from there.

If you have broadband, just get a 4 port router, connect the broadband modem to it, and then connect all 3 computers to the router. Standard Cat5 patch cables are all you need.

I think crossover cables would only work as a point-to-point solution between two computers. I don't know how you could get all three communicating that way.
