Problems with 2nd pc connected to router for internet access
Hi.
Heres the scenario, I have a btvoyager 2100 wireless ADSL router, with 4 wired ports. Running windows XP. (cpu = computer). I have cpu1 connected to the 1st port on the router, and all setting are correct and the router allows it access to the internet. I have cpu2 connected to the 2nd port on the router, and all settings are correct but the router does not allow access to the internet. The router has built in adsl modem. Ive tried the following. 1. I can ping my router (its ip is: 192.168.1.1) 2. I can ping cpu1 3. I cannot ping a website e.g. google (216.239.41.104) 4. File and printer sharring works between the computers through the router, so data is going through the router. 5. I have tried connecting with no firewalls in place and still no internet access. 6. I have treid a 2nd ethernet card and still the same problem. 7. This is the problem i think. When i open cmd to ping a device (e.g. my router) it says the following: "pinging oy (the y has 2 dots above it) with 32 bytes of data" instead of the ip address of the router. It sends and recieves 100% but the ip address is not available. Any help would be much appreciated. somesillyfella@hotmail.com |
