Linksys Wireless: Adapter Will Not Connect to Router
I read everything in the last 30 pages of posts relating to linksys, but although I learned a great deal of valuable information, I didn't see anything exactly like my problem:
I have a BEFW11S4 ver. 2 Wireless Router connected to an E-machines T1742 (XP Home SP1) desktop computer via a SBC DSL modem. My internet service is through SBC (PPoE). I do have connectivity and internet access on this computer. I also have a WUSB11 ver. 2.6 Wireless Adapter connected to an E-machines eTower 366c (98SE) desktop computer. I had connectivity on this computer out-of-the-box. Suddenly this computer stopped connecting – the wlan software for the WUSB11connection status is always "connecting …". "Signal Strength" is "N/A". All parameters are compatible with the router (SSID and channel). Channel changed to 11 on both to eliminate interference. Still no connection. Also cannot connect using a Windows 2000 or a Windows XP laptop using an Airlink wireless card. The network is detected but no connection is established. The Windows XP laptop can connect and access the internet when wired to a port on the router. Therefore I believe that either something in the BEFW11S4 environment has changed to prevent connectivity with other computers on my local network, or that the router's wireless capability suddenly went kaput. Firewalls are off. I would appreciate any suggestions. |

Have you rebooted the router (powered it off for 15 seconds)? If so, do a hard reset on it and go through the setup again (hard reset returns everything to factory defaults). Hard reset is unplugging it, hold the reset button in, plug it back in while holding the reset button, keep holding for 30 seconds.
It's very possible the radio did die - routers are relatively cheap devices and don't last forever, and that one is one of the older ones out there. |

Yes, I've done all the usual things. I've had a few chat sessions and phone support sessions where they suggest all the basics over and over again. I know it reset because I had to reenter my PPoE username and password to get the wired computer to connect. |
