Need wireless internet help

Hi all. I am very naive about internet connections, etc. Right now I have a motorola cable modem, a net gear router and a linksys 802.11 wireless card. For a couple of months I had no problem with the connection but now all of the sudden my computer is freezing while on the internet.

I have tried rebooting my computer. I have also tried putting the wireless card in before and after starting the computer.

I did notice that when I put the wireless card in, I get an "excellent" signal strength message, then "no connection found" then back to "excellent" all very quickly.

Can anyone help me?

Have you tried rebooting the cable modem and the router? Have you tried updating the router firmware?

What type of Linksys card? PCI, USB, or PCMCIA?

I tried turning everything off and back on. That didn't work.

And I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question.

I'm realizing that the strength of my internet connection is oscillating between Excellent and Nothing.

Anyone know what causes this?

Do you have any 2.4 GHz cordless phones in your house?

Surely you can tell us how the Linksys adapter connects to your computer. A model number for it and your router would be quite helpful, as would your computer specs.
