Trouble with DSL modem and connecting Dlink router
I need help badly. I just got DSL and I am trying to wire my network in my home to a router (not wireless). I cannot figure out why it isnt working. I go throught the setup wizard and it configures it for Dynamic IP Address and then says I am done. My DSL people tell me that I need to turn off the DHCP in the router because the modem already serves as a wireless router. It still dosent work! I am really confused now and could use some help.
The modem is an ActionTeck DSL modem And the router is a Dlink DI-604 |

You need to disable a couple of services in the modem in order for it work with the router. You currently have two layers of Network Address Translation which can cause plenty of headaches as it's translating addresses twice over, so disable it in the modem. You also have two DHCP services running, the two services will argue with each other when assigning addresses.

If your modem is already a router, all you need is a simple network switch. If you want to use your router, your modem must be switched into the "bridge" mode and set up your login and password in the router.
