i don't want to change the name of the computer.
i want to change the name i see from another computer on the network. the actual name is in brackets next to the title/name that i'm interested in changing.

The name and what you see on the network are the same. You could change the description of the computer, this way you have a better idea of what "LT" is/does.

Lantastic network? Normally pre-pends the LT to the network name.
If my suspicion is correct, then you reinstall Lantastic and change the name as the 3rd field during the installation.

turns out that all i had to do was to change the "computer description" in the "computer name" tab (in "system properties").
it's fine now (after a restart)
