Network Boot - Diskless Computer

What I am looking to do is create a Linux "image" on a server and have dummy terminals which boot from the server. The terminals will only have a CPU and RAM. I am going to install a Gigabit PCI card on the terminal and want to use that (disabling the LAN on the MB) to boot from the Linux "image".

Anyone have any experience doing this or advice on how to set it up? I'm researching it now, so pretent I know nothing about how to set it up (i.e. hardware specs on both server and terminal, programming the LAN card to boot from a network location, etc.)

you will need a card that has a bootrom option - a little chip on-board that gives the NIC all of its instructions so it can then connect to the server and pick up the o/s...

The other option is a network boot floppy. Old tech but it still works. This can be used with the onboard nic.
