Vpn

Has anyone setup VPN connections for their users in a mixed NOvell 4.X and NT 4 environment? This would be my first go at VPNs so if anyone has any advice i'd welcome it with much appreciation and thanks

A little more information would be helpful:
1) are you doing a site to site VPN or telecommuters?
2) what kind of WAN/Internet hardware do you currently have?
3) what kind of internet access do you have (DSL, T1, ISDN, cable)?
4) how much traffic do you expect to have?

If you are planning to route IPX traffic, then you will need to use GRE for your encryption.

The VPN would be for mobile users (from home and client sites)

I currently have an esoft team internet router but will be getting a cisco router with the new ISP which has vpn capability. The connection will be SDSL.
I don't foresee many users at a time dialing in from the outside. Guestimating I would say 3-5 at most at one time.

The plan would be for TCP/IP traffic. I'm not extremely familiar with the novell capabilities. Ideally, I would like them logging in through the NT PDC and having access to novell that way.

Thanks

ok, so it will be mostly mobile users.

the way i would set it up is like this:

mobile user with a VPN IPsec 3DES client on their latop.
The client takes care of the encryption/decryption.
they then dialup/connect to their ISP.

their encrypted traffic flows to the your router, router decrypts traffic, routes to firewall for authentication and entry to your network.

seee private message for config.

select the private message at the top of the main entry page for the tech forum...

VPN clients are a software piece that you get from the manufacturer of the device that terminates your vpn tunnel....
