Please help IBM Thinkpad T20 Bios Password lost !!!!

Hi Folks,

I am hoping someboby out there may be able to assist me in getting my laptop up & running again.

I have a IBM THINKPAD T20 & keep getting code error 0271(check date & time settings) when i try to boot it up, it will not let me enter the bios to enable me to reset the date & time as it is locked by an unkown password....

Yesterday i totally stripped it down to pieces looking to see if there was a jumper i could short but there was nothing !!!

I have done this before for a friend on his old Gateway notebook & it worked.

After reassembling the notebook & rebooting, the same operation is happening, code error !

I have tried to boot from a floppy & cd-rom but still i get the flashing adlock which only gives you 3 attempts before it locks out.
I have contacted IBM Uk but they have not returned mt reply.

Surely i am not alone at this problem, im hoping somebody can help or give me some good advice as i do not know what to do next.

Cheers folks

I believe you have to send the notebook into an authorized service center to get it reset - it may even need a motherboard replacement. A Thinkpad is not a machine to forget a bios password on.

I'm a bit unclear - will it boot without a password? If so, just reset the date and time in Windows.

Unhappy

I have tried everything but it will not boot unless i gain access to the bios to re-set the tame & date, it gives me IBM error code so therefore i require a bios password..........

Surely somebody may be able to assist me in my problem ?????

I cannot be the only person who has this problem, like i stated earlier IBM do not want to know !!

Please help

Cheers folks
