Simple question, needs simple answer
I have one quick and simple question.
Can a switch be used to share broadband connection alone? Example: One modem, one switch, two computers. |

No it can not be used to share simultaneously unless you are paying for 2 IP addresses, but depending on whether it's cable or dsl, with dsl you would have no problem using 1 or the other pc at a time but not be able to share and have both connected at the same time, and with cable though , because some of the cable providers use the mac address of the PC you may only be able to get 1 PC to work at all with a switch and cable broadband. Routers are cheap now and come with built in 4 port switch, the best thing is just to save up for a broadband sharing router..
