Dropped internet connection every 8 minutes
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to help my sister with her internet connection. It seems just about every 8 minutes the connection will drop. Possibly getting kicked off manually? She has dial up with XP, computer is an HP Pavillion 533W. Also, cd drive will not read contents of cds although it will play dvds. Strange..... Thank you all |

Check to see what interval her e-mail is set to connect and if it's set to disconnect after checking.

Replace the factory software modem with a proper hardware based modem such as a USR 2976.
