F-ed up wireless connection feel like ripping a hole in my LCD screen

Okay guys set aside the internet I have 2 computers call one Venice and the other Sempron they are both using Windows XP (one is Pro the other is MCE) and both use PCI wireless cards.

I have the drivers installed on both machines whenever I do a scan I get this (on both computers)

Okay I'll try and connect ...

Okay, I have restarted my router many times here is the router:

*The networking stuff is all new.
*This morning for some reason on Venice it connected and I typed the IP in Firefox and came up options, etc but I forget what happened I started getting a "limited or no connecticty" message, I reinstalled the drivers on Venice and it seems like this now, so is my other computer.
Can anyone help me?!

Your problem might be the default PCI card settings are incompatible with the default router settings.

I have the same problem if I try to connect my 802.11b network adapter to my 802.11g access point....it won't work because they are incompatible, unless I configure the access point to operate in a multi-mode g and b compatible operation.

To overcome this, you have to connect to your router physically using an ethernet cable. I'm not familiar with the router you have - from the website, it looks like it might have many different modes of operation - I'm assuming that you can configure it manually to be sure that it matches the operation of your wireless network PCI cards.

Hope this helps.

Good Job

Glad you figured that out - sorry I had go out. Every router and network piece of equipment is different...just takes a lot of persistence and the patience of a saint!

OH LORD please dont say that...

I am about to set up a wireless also...today is D-day. After reading everyones nightmare experiences I am now NOT looking forward to this.

Just a quick question on the subject:

What if I were to set up an ad-hoc network between 2 nodes using wireless nics. Node 1 would be wired to the dsl TA. Then just run ICS for Node 2?
Would this be easier (and a bit cheaper with out buying a wireless router)? Or is it even workable.

TIA

Steve
