HELP! Internet slowdown LAST RESORT B4 emotional breakdown

Hi guys Im down to my last resorts. I'm running windows xp with internet explorer with a cable high speed 5mbps connection.

It's been 3 days now that my internet connection speeds up to normal then slows down to dial-up loading, it is so slow I can't even open up multiple IE windows. I ran ad-aware and twister anti-trojan and got rid of 3 trojans and some ad-ware. I called my ISP and they said eveything is fine from there end we did a ping and line test together over the phone. The rest of the PC works fine just the internet comes and goes as it pleases. I reset my modem and had windows do a repair of my connection.

Was I hi-jacked? is there mal-ware? What can I do guys? did anybody ever experience this?

Greatly appreciated,
Giulio Cicora

a few questions:

1) are you connected via ethernet or USB?
2) do you have a router? if so make and model please.
3) have you installed any software recently?

2 questions.

1. Who is your isp?
2. Do you have a Phone line coming into the back of your modem or a Cable Line coming into the back?

Have you power cycled the cable modem? What firewall are you using?
