Wireless Zero Configuration Utility Not Starting
I have a Sony Vaio with wireless capability.
I've noticed that the WZC service is not starting automatically even though the service is configured to. The wireless configuration dialog is telling me that I might have another utility that is managing wireless configuration. I thought I had uninstalled anything proprietary that had to do with wireless but i'm wondering if I'm overlooking something. thank you in advance for any assistance. Regards, Wanabe |

Thank you for your reply KatoPC.
Yes, I checked out the server and have it set to Automatic. However, I still need to restart it each time I reboot the computer. Regards, Wanabe |

Open the WZC service again and check the Dependencies tab. See if either of the items listed there aren't running.

Thank you Panama.
The Dependencies tab lists RPC which is started and also NDIS Usermode I/O Protocal. Is there somewhere I can check on the NDIS Usermode item? Thanks, Wanabe |

Don't know if this applies to your situation, but it's a decent explanation of NDIS. I'm thinking your issues lie with some previously installed software that provided drivers for a PCMCIA wireless card. Did you ever have one in your system?

Thanks Panama.
No, I never had a PCMCIA card installed. Wireless is built in and I just recently restored the entire laptop. |

If it used Intel Pro Set to do the wireless, you need to reinstall it, then to use WZC, you right click on the Intel tray icon and select Microsoft configuration.
