need help urgently

I am having problem remapping a network drive. For egs. the drive name is Y and the folder name is \\ipp-file\far. I got an error message that says" The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occured: element not found."

How can that be? It is the correct drive name and folder. I have even tried to release and renew the IP address, disconnect the drives and recreate the user account but to no avail.

My PC is using Win XP Pro and it's not connected to the company's domain. But before that, I could access all my network drives.

Please help. Thank you so much!

Can you locate the share in My Network Places? If so, right click it and map it that way.
