Anyone encounter similar problems with wireless access points

Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you have ever encountered this type of problems:
you set up your wireless network (in my case I am referring to 2 separate networks, consisting of pc's and a wireless access pouint for a couple of laptops, same set up at both locations), in my case at first due to quote remote locations I had minimal security settings set up as well, anyway, the Wlan works fine ntill oneday you cant connect with your laptop.
Easy enough to fix, reset the access point and set up over again. I started to suspect that perhaps soimeone from the outside was accessing and making changes so I started to add levels of security. but I am close enopugh to come to the conclusion that the wireless access points simply somehow "reset" themselves! I know the other is a D-link and think that so is the other ( 1 at each location) but cant remeber for sure.
Sometimes the laptiops travel between the 2 locations, but as far as I understand if I have WLAN1 set up at location 1 and WLAN2 set up at location 2 the laptops should automatically find them and connect, if security is in place then the corresponding security settings have tio bve set for both LAN settings on the laptops right? this way everything should work with no problems right? All I know is from time to time, the wireless connections disappear for no apparent reason.I would appreciate any comments and advice, also if you know of any hardware related specific issues please copmment
thanks to all
sami

I've got a similar situation. I originally networked two desktops to share a dsl connection. I connected a wireless router to the dsl modem to share the connection. The two comps are pretty far apart and the signal sometimes doesn't reach. Also the router does seem to reset or timeout after a while. I believe it's a setting somewhere. I have called my dsl provider and they have walked me through the modem interface and had me click on a setting that kept it on all the time. Maybe your router has a similiar setting. I now have a laptop that shares the cannection wirelessly too. It is a lot closer than the desktop but once in a while it can not connect too. It's got to be a setting some where. Hope this helps a little.
