Setting up a Jedi Academy Dedicated Server

I was thinking about building a dedicated linux server for a game based off the quake III Arena engine called Jedi Academy. I plan to have this server share a DSL connection (which is 679.4 kilobits per second according to http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/) with my PC. Before i build this server, i wanted to ask you guys: would having my PC share a connection with this server slow down my connection a ton? Thanks in advance for your help.

You usually can't run a very good server off of a DSL connection unless it's a business line.

To answer your connection: No if you type in the lan ip of your server instead of connecting to it with the automatic connection.
Also yes if you are using your connection on the other computer. Obviously you will have a slow down.
If your playing Jedi Academy On the Other Computer without typing in LAN IP it will use up some of your upload speed for both the Server and your other computer. Also it will bog down you download speed for the same reason.
