Web Pages Load REALLY REALLY SLOW
Evening all,
I am really baffled by this issue. I built a machine about 4 months ago and the machine has been working great until recently. Now, web pages load extremely slow, almost at dial-up speeds. This machine is pretty fast to, with an AMD process, 1GIG of RAM, 250MB H.D. I am using a 5MB cable connection and I scanned for spyware, and didn't find anything. Hosts file turned up nothing as well. Both IE and Firefox load really really slow no matter what I do. I think I want to try swapping out the Nic next from the onboard NIC to a seperate one to see if this is hardware related. Anyone else have any suggestions? Joe |

How long has this been going on? Could be a problem on the ISP's end. Are you using a router? Sometimes, routers may need to be reset to recollect DNS info.

Google Desktop Limewire After a reboot, IE is back to it's normal self and pages load great, but FireFox is not. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it, rebooted and still the same thing. I checked with the ISP, no issues that they are aware of, line test came back great, and a traceroute out to numerous sites yields no latency or dropped packets at all. Since IE works and not FireFox this has to be software related. BTW, I am running XP Home edition. Any other suggestions? Joe |

Have you cleaned out the cookies and temp files in firefox? If that doesnt work, maybe you might want to try reinstalling it. See if maybe it was a program file corruption.
