Uplinking Linksys wired to DLink wireless, to get internet on both
I have a problem with my wireless router. I mean it is obvious that many of the wireless phones in my house run at 2.4GHz and so does my router, so whenever I get a phonecall, it resets my router. (DLink DI 524). I am on my desktop most of the time, so that is when I am affected the most. To solve this, I plugged all of my hard wired computers back into my old Linksys BESFR41. They all get the internet fine, and it doesn't get interrupted when the phone rings.
Now, I can't get the internet to the wireless router. I have a wire going from the uplink on the wired to the WAN on the wireless, but this isnt working. I also don't know how to access the wireless router options. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks. |

No, you have to do the following to use the D-Link as a simple wireless access point.
Disconnect the D-link from everything and do a hard reset on it. Procedures are on the D-Link support site in the FAQ. Then plug a computer into one of the switch ports, leaving ALL other ports open. Open 192.168.0.1 in a browser, username is "admin" (without the quotes) and there is no password. Set up the wireless, then disable the internal DHCP server, then change its internal IP address to 192.168.1.200. Save changes, you will lose access. Connect the uplink port on the Linksys to a SWITCH port on the D-Link, NOT the WAN port. |
