Unable to update ethernet card driver
I play the online game World of Warcraft, but I get disconnected rather frequently. I had a look at the game's tech support page(http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww0960p), and it says that I can probably get better performance if I change my ethernet card's drivers to the one listed here.
I've downloaded the file, uninstalled my current drivers, and attempted to add a new ethernet card via the "Add New Hardware" option in Control Panel. It auto installs the old driver, so I try to update the driver by pointing it to the folder with the new drivers. However, it doesn't seem to detect the driver, saying that it could not find a better match than the one currently installed. How do I get this to work? And.. does anyone out there know how I can fix my disconnection issues? Its really getting on my nerves. I'm running Windows XP Home. I connect thru ADSL using a Linksys LNE100TX v5, 3COM Officeconnect Wireless Gateway and a D-Link DSL-500G router/modem. I also run Norton Internet Security. Please do help, thanks! |

it is quite possible that you do have the best driver for your card.
What i would do is diasble Norton and see what effect that has on your connection issues. I am guessing that might be the root of all evil...ahem...your connection issues. |
